Baby Needs on Arrival at Home

Arrival of newborn baby at their home is a joyous moment for parents. As soon as seventh or eighth month of pregnancy starts, they start to think of the basic and necessary things that the baby needs at home. If this is the first baby, then we are sure to be more on the end. This is because we do not have exact idea of what baby exactly needs.

To help and make you more comfortable here are some lists of baby needs. To list out, we generally need to start from the most basic things that the baby needs. Generally, they need nursing, feeding, sleep, attention, comfort, soothing and safety.

  • Feeding – If you are not breast-feeding, feeding bottle and supplemental formula are necessary. Other needs are warmers, sterilizer, burp cloth, highchair or booster seats, bib and stool.
  • Clothes – Depending on the weather conditions, buy some clothes that are soft and comfortable. If the weather is cool, buy some caps, socks and mittens.
  • Baby bedding – Since the newborn baby sleeps most of the time, this is an important need for the baby to sleep throughout comfortably. Mattress cover, pillows, mattress protector and blankets will give more comfort.
  • Outdoors – For outdoor travelling car seat and infant carrier should be used for some safety reasons.
  • Nursing – Audio/video monitor helps the carer to know when the baby is up for feeding or any discomfort. Other needs are Diaper, changing table, wipes, creams and lotions.
  • Bathing – Bathtub, baby soaps, baby oils, soft towels and wash clothes. Best quality baby oil should be used since the baby needs good massage for good health. Since the baby skin is very delicate, a soft towel is to be used.

These are some of the basic needs for every baby. Choice of baby products depends entirely on the different people. Different people have different taste and way of living. Some people like to buy bouncing chair or swing to help their baby sleep more comfortably. Some people keep basic medicines like paracetamol for emergencies. Other medicines should be taken on prescription of paediatrician.
